Our dentist, Dr. Mark Teigen, believes you deserve a strong and healthy smile. Unfortunately, there are things in the world today that can harm your teeth and gums and alter your oral health. Some of those things are habits you have at work. It’s important to avoid these habits as much as possible, and those habits are:

-Using your teeth as tools: This means you use your teeth to rip open a package, hold pins in your mouth, or tear off a piece of tape. Another harmful habit can be chewing on pens and pencils. These things can harm your teeth because they generate tiny cracks in your tooth enamel. The more unnatural pressure you add to the enamel, the bigger the cracks can get, resulting in chipped teeth.

-Smoking: Smoking not only promotes lung cancer, but it also increases your risk of having oral cancer, gum disease, cavities, and tooth loss. No matter what you smoke, it’s important to quit.

-Forgetting to brush your teeth: It’s not common to have a mid-day brushing routine, but our dental team asks you to make it more common. Brushing after lunch can help you have a strong and successful oral health because it removes harmful substances from your teeth and gums. It can also help you avoid having an embarrassing food-filled smile and smelly breath.
